Health Care Assistant

Mrs Julie College

We welcome Julie to the practice.  Already the post of Health Care Assistant has proved popular and valuable.  Julie supports the nurses and doctors in their work.  Julie takes measurements for health screening including blood pressures (please have yours checked by her), helps with wound dressings and provides a chaperone for procedures amongst many other helpful tasks we are still discovering.

District Nurses

District nurses can be called upon to visit patients who cannot leave their homes.  The doctor, or sometimes the hospital will arrange this.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are registered nurses with additional qualification whose main areas of responsibility are health education and the preventative care of families, including mothers and children.  Our Health Visiting team run appointment and drop-in clinics.  These are now location-based in your local area and not within the surgery.  Details of the provision for your location are available from reception.   They provide specialist advice for children's care and nurturing.

Community Midwife

Antenatal clinics are conducted by our community midwife on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment.  These community-based antenatal clinics compliment any hospital clinic appointment and scans.  They provide an opportunity for parents to prepare and be monitored safely through pregnancy as well as liaising with mum's own GP if problems arise.

Medical Students & GP Trainees

Occasionally you may be asked if you would mind if a trainee (medical student, GP trainee or Junior Doctor) be present at your consultation.  If you object to this please indicate this when asked by the receptionist or practitioner prior to the start of the consultation.  Although it is important to help train the next generation of practitioners, we appreciate that you may not wish this for any or all of your own consultations.
